84 an hour 4 days ago 4 days ago 4 days ago The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for a COURT JUVENILE CASE MANAGER, in the Administrative Services Department.
This position will provide a variety of clerical and casework duties, predominantly to the juvenile and minors case load in municipal court.
The Court Juvenile Case Manager will process juvenile violations and judicial orders, monitor compliance, serve as liaison with families, schools, and community service organizations.
WORK PERFORMED:
Performs common customer service functions for walk-in and phone customers, as directed.
Computer data entry of Class C misdemeanor charges filed in Municipal Court.
Handling of all violations issued to juvenile or minor defendants.
Maintain and update all records on computer and case files.
Process payments of Class C misdemeanor cases, manage payment schedule for defendants granted time payments.
Prepare docket or calendar of cases to be called.
Secure information for judges, contact witnesses, attorneys, and litigants to obtain information for court settings.
Prepare, select and summons jury as required for court hearings.
Collect and distribute information as required by approved motion for discovery.
Review and respond to requests for information under Rule 12 of the Judicial Code Examine legal documents submitted to court for adherence to law or court procedures, prepare case folders, post, and route documents.
Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail.
Collects, seals, and stamps outgoing mail.
Prepares official city correspondences such as hearing notices, summons, subpoenas, etc.
Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as typing routine correspondence, data entry, filing, faxing, photocopying, and collating.
Electronically retain documents for retention using scanning system Ability to deal with hostile citizens and/or emotionally charged consumers.
Research community service options for juvenile and minor defendants.
Monitor compliance with court orders and take necessary steps for sanctions when non-compliance occurs.
Hold periodic in-services for juveniles, minors and parents on issues relating to juveniles/minors.
Procure speakers, materials, etc.
for these in-services.
Work all dockets with juveniles/minors being heard.
Work with judges on ensuring order of necessary juvenile/minor orders-and compliance with those orders.
Train Deputy Court Clerks on procedures for juvenile cases, including legislative updates.
Other duties may be assigned.
Education and
Experience:
Associate degree in social service or legal field, one three years of related experience.
Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
Experience in Microsoft Office products, software networks and websites is required.
Level I Court Clerk Certification (or must be obtained within one year of hire).
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to work well in a team environment; to be tactful and patient with callers, visitors, and fellow employees; ability to establish organizational priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to deal with hostile citizens and/or emotionally charged customers.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
